Col Vijay Jain (Retired)
Col Vijay Jain is a veteran of the Indian Army with 35 years of combat and engineering experience behind him. Through his service he has served various executive and staff (advisory) roles which involved engineering applications for combat situations as also the development of civil infrastructure in civil society. Participated in multiple active operations from 1994 to 2007.
He has done B Tech (Civil Engineering, environment engineering as an elective subject) from RIT (now NIT Jamshedpur) in 1986 where was he was the best student. Later he did his M Tech (Quality Management) from BITS Pilani in 2017. Besides he has acquired a diploma in IT, HR.
He specialises in execution of civil infrastructure related projects and has distinction of creating strategic infrastructure in far flung and difficult terrain while on deputation to „Border Roads Organisation‟, a strategic government organisation. In BRO, he was responsible for designing and commissioning a water supply scheme for a BRO HQ at Demwe, Arunachal Pradesh, India in 1996. In field army, he was responsible for designing and commissioning a water supply scheme in south camp of Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (MFFR), water supply schemes in forward areas of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. His role as primary advisor, policy formulation and execution of projects to wean the population away from insurgency by out-reaching in counter insurgency areas in North East won him accolades. He was also part of the policy formulation for strategic vision of the organization while being a part of the only Army Training Command of the Indian Army.
He has published several papers in national magazines (while on deputation to Defence Research and Development Organisation-DRDO) and combat magazines were well received. He was a key member of the team that authored a book on disaster management for the Indian army which is now a standard reference service document.
In 2019-21, he formulated a scheme for treatment of solid waste management for a military station which was put into action and had achieved Projects goals, excellence & user satisfaction.
